La Rochère was founded in 1475 by glassblower Simon de Thysac in the region formerly known as Rochiers. This means that La Rochère has over 500 years of experience with the production of high quality glassware. Even though the factory has existed for over five centuries, the collection has only been commercialized for the private market since the end of the 1960s. Around the same time, the factory changed its name to the current name “Cristallerie de la Rochère”. In 2008, La Rochère was awarded the label Patrimoine Vivant. This label stands for artisan and excellent industrial French products. Nowadays, the factory does not only function as the production site for the glassware, but doubles as one of the most populair tourist attractions of the Haute Saône region in France.
